Northern Ireland MS Awareness Week 21-27 April 2008

MS Awareness Week 2008

This years MS Awareness Week in Northern Ireland focused on raising public awareness throughout the province, also the emotional and financial costs of MS.

The Lord Mayor of Belfast Councillor Jim Rodgers OBE launched MS Awareness week and our campaign to back free prescriptions for those affected by Multiple Sclerosis.
Northern Ireland currently has the second highest rate of MS worldwide, with over 4,000 people currently living with the neurological condition in the region.
People most affected by the condition may avail of a combination of drugs which go some way to alleviate the symptoms.
However the prescription charges amount to a significant monthly outgoing for people living with MS.

The MS Society are delighted that Councillor Jim Rodgers OBE, has shown his support to the campaign which we launched on Monday 21st April 2008 during MS Awareness Week and we hope that other high profile representatives within Northern Ireland will follow suit.
