Established in 1953, The MS Society, Northern Ireland is an organisation that cares and is committed to making a real difference to people living with MS. With this in mind our services are continually being reviewed and developed to meet the needs of our client group.
Accurate and relevant information
We produce publications on all aspects of living with MS.Confidential support
If a person has been newly diagnosed or needs extra support The Society is able to provide confidential advice and help on all aspects of MS. This service also extends to the family.Network of support branches
Seventeen local branches are run largely by volunteers with personal experience of MS. They offer a variety of activities, support and information.Campaigning for care and equality
We are the recognised first point of contact for the press and media on MS in Northern Ireland. The Society continuously campaigns for improved quality, equality and accessibility of service.Advocacy
We actively seek the views of people living with MS regarding the services they receive. Open consultation meetings allow people to voice concerns in relation to all aspects of their care.Benefits advice and financial assistance
The Society provides a signposting service for advice on benefits and also small amounts of financial assistance through our Individual Support Grant procedure.Support for the whole family

Training
Branch training including fundraising, finance and individual support grants.Referrals
Referrals to and from health care professionals including co-funded MS Specialist Nurses. The Society co-funds two MS Specialist Nurses in the Northern and Western Board Areas.Complementary therapies
The Society has a part-time Complementary Therapist who provides service three days per week in our resource centre in Belfast. We also provide other therapies in a number of branches throughout the province.Holiday provision and advice
